About Me

Welcome!

Thank you for your time. I’m Heather Johnson, your local Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) and Reverse Mortgage Specialist based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, serving New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. My professional experience includes over 35 years in the mortgage, real estate, and insurance industries.

Each person has a unique story and situation that can lead them to my services. I enjoy helping 62+ homeowners understand and utilize reverse mortgages to make sure their future years are comfortable and secure. It brings me great joy to assist homeowners 62+ to “Age in Place” and stay in their homes without excessive financial stress.¹ That’s why my friends and customers call me the “Senior Financial Stress Buster.”

I’m involved in my community and am a member of the Seacoast Senior Provider’s Networking Group; Seacoast Women’s Network; Seacoast Board of Realtors Affiliates; and I also volunteer for the First Night Celebrations and Market Square Days and Gather Food Drives in Portsmouth.

My colleagues in Business Networking International (BNI) often refer clients to me, as well as the many friends in the mortgage, banking, legal and finance world. They trust my expertise and know I want to help their clients. You can count on being in good hands.

What is a Reverse Mortgage?

A reverse mortgage loan is a safe and secure financial product that allows homeowners who are 62 years of age or older a way to access a portion of the equity in their homes without taking on additional monthly mortgage payments.*

The most common type of reverse mortgage is the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM), which is insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). We offer this type of reverse mortgage here at Mutual of Omaha Mortgage.   We also offer Jumbo Homesafe Loans in MA for higher value homes.

The HECM reverse mortgage is a loan just like a traditional mortgage, but instead of making monthly mortgage payments* to a lender, it allows those 62+ borrowers to receive increments from the lender in the form of a lump sum, line of credit, monthly increments, or a combination of the three.
